Automation of Social Production and Its Consequences——A Critical Examination of the Techno-Social Effects of Cyber-Society

  • Since the advent of industrialization, from the automation of labor processes to the integration of factories and corporations, and further to the global economy, technology has not only expanded the scope of human activities, but also directly shaped social structures and transformed human beings'positions within them, successively giving rise to the structures of “industrial society”,“technological society” and “cybernetic society”.By virtue of artificial intelligence technology, humanity has achieved automation in production, evolving from the production of material wealth to the production of meaning. This has also brought a series of major challenges to social development:the autonomization of media has led to the solidification of lifestyles;the social images supported by various cybernetic technologies have become a force overriding interpersonal relationships;the “viewer society” characterized by mutual surveillance has taken shape;and the automation of meaning production has bred “the nihilism of transparency”.On the whole, the society empowered by AI technology is increasingly becoming an interpersonal field with pressure but without density.
