Abstract: Inspired by Rawls's advocacy of the "political not metaphysical" turn, Hardimon's interpretation of Hegel's concept of reconciliation discards its metaphysical presuppositions and elements. Instead, from a social philosophical perspective, he elucidates the significant implications of the concept of reconciliation for regulating the issues of the quarrel of the ancients and the moderns, thereby touching upon the dimension of immanent critique in philosophy within the post-metaphysical era. Gadamer and Riedel delve more deeply into the complex implications of the concept of reconciliation for the quarrel of the ancients and the moderns by addressing the religious problem of faith and knowledge, the problem of objective spirit or the historical realm, and the problem of the unity of the concepts of nature and history. The divergence between Habermas and Honneth regarding the "post-cognitivist trend" in the actualization of Hegel's philosophy of right points towards a higher-level recurrence of the issues in the quarrel of the ancients and the moderns within the evolution from Kantian philosophy to post-Kantian philosophy. The interpretation of the concept of reconciliation can neither be carried out by completely separating political philosophy from metaphysics, nor by making an either/or choice between Kant and Hegel, or between Kantian and post-Kantian philosophy. Only by elucidating the concept of reconciliation in connection with the issues of the quarrel of the ancients and the moderns can we transcend the abstract attitude towards Hegel's philosophy and forge a more practically relevant theoretical path.
