The Grassroots Administration and Officialgentry Relationship of Huizhou in Early Qing Dynasty
Abstract: Influenced by the dynastic changes from Ming to Qing,Huizhou in early Qing Dynasty was once faced with a war havoc and insurgence,the people fled,intensified disputes,political turnover,and other turmoil.During the period of Shunzhi and Kangxi in early Qing Dynasty,Huizhou prefectures and counties vigorously carried out grassroots administration and local governance in order to restore and even stabilize social order.Generally speaking,at the beginning of the Qing Dynasty,Huizhou's grassroots administration and local governance were difficult to break through the relatively mature institutional framework since Ming Dynasty,and clearly reflected the characteristics of the Qing Dynasty's system of inheriting the Ming Dynasty in practice.In the paper by use of the“Folk Documents Written by Gentry of Wuyuan Couty in Qing Dynasty”,involving of solid state in local society at the beginning of Qing Dynasty,especially the intense controdiction between Wuyuan County Groverment and local gentry.The contradiction is the continuation of scholar's style since the Ming Dynasty to early Qing Dynasty.To some extent,the occurrence and treatment of the incident reflected the situation and reality of Huizhou Shengyuan(“生员”,scholars) group participation in local affairs in Qing Dynasty.
