Rural Non-Employment Income and the Possible Future Picture of Chinese Rural Modernization

Abstract: there has not been total research on the no-job income although there have been many studies on the land rents, interests, house rents, social security and public service. Here we analyze and discuss the constitute and causes of the rural no-job income and their roles in the urban-rural relationships and in the future rural China in multi-perspectives of common prosperity, social welfare, rural revitalization and the urban-rural integration. We find that the no-job income (especially, the property income) has an important contribution to the urban-rural income difference. Another finding is that the fiscal transfer income difference is least among the many kinds of the urban-rural income. Thirdly, the difference of the urban-rural social welfare is so big that is another important dimension of the urban-rural income difference. Forth, the increasing of the no-job income is useful to the promotion of the rural people’s job stability and life certainty feeling. In all, the increasing of the rural people’s no-job income will improve the urban-rural income, social justice and common prosperity in the constructing the future rural through the rural revitalization.
