Unitary Urbanism: To Reconstruct the Monetized Micropsychological Atmosphere
Abstract: The revolutionary situational construction of Situationist International is not just a theoretical discussion, but a direct intervention in the world (environment) of the bourgeois everyday life. They do not directly pay attention to the institutions of the capitalist mode of production, economic relations, and political and legal relations, but turn to the objectified results of these institutions by those small things in everyday life, that is, micro-social criticism. Where Hegel saw the macro “civil society”, the situationists saw the microscopic life details of atomized individual activities being sequenced in the monetized urban relationship. This detailed “atmosphere” is not actively ordered and shaped by people, but controlled by the landscape. Unitary urbanism, which is precisely aimed at the micro-pseudo scene of urban life under the landscape control of bourgeois urbanism, must also start from the scene constructed by the architecture and urban life, and reconstruct the poetic situation of everyday life.
