Abstract: The right to the city in contemporary Western countries involve urban housing right, urban public space right, urban public service right, and urban information right. The crisis of urban housing right caused the housing occupation and improvement movement; the urban public space right was ignored because of social square phobia; the lack of urban public service right and the monopoly of information right seriously affected people’s basic life. The enlightenment of the status quo of the right to the city in Western countries to China’s urbanization construction is reflected in the following aspects: guard against the disappearance of the countryside, let the urban life return to the tradition; promote the urbanization based on people-oriented, increase the effective supply of urban public services; optimize the planning and management of urban public space, build a harmonious community; attach great importance to the housing right of urban residents, and increase housing supply through multiple channels.
