Research on the Spread of Chinese Poetry in Southeast Asia: A Study of Contemporary Old Style Poetry in Singapore and Malaysia
Abstract: In the late Qing Dynasty, the Qing government sent Zuo Binglong and Huang Zunxian to serve as consuls in Singapore.Later, the local poet Qiu Shuyuan was born in the Singapore Malaysia region. From the 1930s to the 1950s,southbound literati such as Yu Dafu and She Xueman were active in Singapore and Malaysia, and then to Pan Shou and Lin Li,who came from China to Singapore after the formal establishment of Singapore and Malaysia, these old style poets had literary activities for over a hundred years. It can be said that for over a hundred years, the creation of traditional Chinese poetry has been a continuous thread in the history of Southeast Asian literary circles, with a continuous cultural context, thus becoming a beautiful literary landscape in Southeast Asian literature. We can use literary historical materials to outline and restore the creation of old style poetry in Southeast Asia over a hundred years ago,in order to explore and sort out the complex creative journey of Chinese literati in their scattered paths.Whether from the perspective of literary historical material sorting or literary theory construction,it is an urgent issue that needs to be seriously addressed in our literary research community.
