Abstract: Cultural sociology focuses on the interaction between cultural practice and society. Its traditional research methods have dual characteristics of subjectivism and objectivism. Social computing data and methods, such as cultural big data and machine learning technology, provide new research objects, analytical tools, and theoretical views for the current development of cultural sociology, and have been applied in international cutting-edge research. Chinese scholars pay further attention to big data and traditional information such as massive amounts of texts, Internet cultural behaviors, and questionnaires to achieve scientific interpolation and measurement of the cultural space-time structure, the interactive structure of information flow space, and subcultural social indicators. Through machine learning and other social computing methods, researchers of cultural sociology can better understand the dynamic relationship between culture and social structure, thus promoting the forming of theory.
