The Politics of Details: An Analysis of Schizo

Abstract: With regard to the excess-description of realistic literature, Jacques Rancière believes that the excess details do not participate in the plot or the text as a whole, but confront the whole with a dissensus independent of the whole. The excess of details interrupts the normal operation of the overall existing relations, weaving a line of flight, which is a re-distribution of the sensible, a politics of details. Through this method of post-structuralist schizo analysis, Rancière upgraded the excess details from the irreducible residues of functional analysis into the “luminous halo” of sensible micro-events. Rancière’s fruitful tracking and exploration rediscovered the value of excess-description and opened up the space for political interpretation of realistic literature, which can be fruitfully deployed to explore the possibilities of realistic literature that are, or remain, invisible as yet.
