  • The debate over the localization of sociology in China has persisted for a long time, and one controversial issue is the relevance of quantitative research in the development of Chinese sociology. This paper responds to the criticisms of the quantitative paradigm sparked by the discussion on the localization of Chinese sociology and discusses the tension between universalism and particularism, the development of mainstream Chinese sociology, and issues of research norms. It points out that the quantitative paradigm plays an indispensable role in the localization of Chinese sociology.Based on reliable and consistent measurement and standardized data collection and analysis methods, quantitative comparative research helps reveal the uniqueness of Chinese society and culture. It serves the development of mainstream Chinese sociology and contributes Chinese theories and experiences to the global academic community.
