From “People are the Foundation of the State” to “People-centered”

  • “People-centered” is the fundamental position of Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law. It is not only the Chinese Communists’ deep understanding and precise grasp of the essential characteristics of socialism with Chinese characteristics, but also the inheritance and development of the “people’s nature” of Marxist jurisprudence, and more importantly inheritance and innovation of ancient Chinese “People-oriented” thought, especially the absorption of such examples as “bright virtue and careful punishment”, “integrate punishment with education”, “convicted by law”, “cherish people’s lives” and other essence of Chinese traditional legal culture, and give the connotation of the times on this basis, which constitutes the socialist rule of law culture with Chinese characteristics in the new era. The core of the socialist culture of the rule of law with Chinese characteristics is the participation of all the people. It takes the people as the main body, and on the basis of inheriting and developing the traditional Chinese culture of the rule of law, draws on the excellent civilization achievements of other countries, and realize the self-confidence of the socialist rule of law culture in socialist practice.
