Abstract
The whole development in modern Western philosophy shows that the important thing is not we don’t need Hegel, but how to start a dialogue with Hegel. Gadamer declares he will inherit the legacy of Hegel, and in fact his philosophical hermeneutics is a new Hegelism. Metaphysics is important legacy of Hegel in Gadamer’s view, and it’s the holy God in the cultural temple of a nation. Gadamer seriously promise that hermeneutics aims to recover the reputation of dialectics. He praises Hegel’s dialectics is forever an exciting source. Hegel present Gadamer abundant thought’s resources how to reflect the limits of science in a Science age. This is a misunderstanding to consider Hegel’s idea as a theory of anti freedom and progress. Gadamer defends that Hegel is the successor of the freedom of french revolution.
